Eighth edition of Awards for excellence in broadcasting of thematic television through Eutelsat satellites

The winners of the HOT BIRD™ TV AWARDS, the international event recognising excellence in thematic satellite television, were announced today at a ceremony assembling more than 200 broadcasting representatives from Europe, North America and Asia. Organised by Eutelsat Communications (Euronext Paris: ETL) and Eurovisioni, this is the eighth edition of the HOT BIRD™ TV Awards and the first to be held in Turin, host city of the February 2006 Winter Olympics.

Eutelsat Communications (Euronext Paris: ETL) announces that the Société Nationale de Radio et de Télévision Marocaine (SNRT), Morocco’s national public broadcaster, has leased new transponder capacity on its HOT BIRD™ 4 satellite to broadcast a multiplex comprising six television channels and four radio stations.

AL HARBI TELECOM SELECTS EUTELSAT SESAT 1 SATELLITE FOR NETWORK CONNECTIVITY AND BROADBAND SERVICES IN SAUDI ARABIA

Eutelsat announces it has been selected by Al Harbi Telecom, a global VSAT solutions provider, to provide capacity for Bayanat international satellite gateway for the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The five-year contract concerns two Ku-band transponders of 310 mbps on Eutelsat’s SESAT 1 satellite.

POVERKHNOST SELECTS EUTELSAT W4 SATELLITE FOR UKRAINE’S FIRST DTH TV PLATFORM

Eutelsat today announced that its W4 satellite has been selected by Poverkhnost Satellite Communications to broadcast the first direct-to-home pay-TV platform in the Ukraine with potential to expand into surrounding countries including Moldavia, Belarus and other CIS countries. Located at 36 degrees East, Eutelsat’s W4 satellite is optimised for providing highpower capacity over eastern Europe, enabling direct reception of digital television channels by 60cm antennas.

The satellite is scheduled to be repositioned to this location in second quarter 2006 after the launch and entry into service of Eutelsat’s HOT BIRD™ 7A and 8 satellites.

Eutelsat, one of the world’s leading satellite operators, today announced a new agreement with telecommunications service provider Horizon Satellite Services for capacity on Eutelsat’s W6 satellite, which supplies a footprint optimised for Europe, North Africa, the Sahara, the Middle East and central Asia. Horizon Satellite Services has been using W5 since 2003 and last year also contracted with Eutelsat for capacity on its SESAT 2 satellite.

Smart Telecom, the second largest provider of residential, business and Metro telecommunications services in Ireland, has selected Eutelsat, one of the world’s leading satellite operators, to fulfil the satellite requirements of the €6 million contract it was recently awarded to provide high speed internet access to schools throughout Ireland. The contract was awarded to Smart Telecom by the Ministers for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources and for Education and Science and consists of delivering always on high-speed internet access and routers to 1,041 primary and secondary schools through a mix of broadband technologies, including wireless, fixed line (DSL) and satellite.

SKYLOGIC SETS UP EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS CENTRES IN SRI LANKA FOR THE ITALIAN CIVIL DEFENCE AGENCY
