Eutelsat TV Observatory
274 million homes across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East receive channels broadcast by a Eutelsat satellite, either via Direct-to-Home (DTH) reception, cable or IP network, up from 207 million in 2010 (+32%).
Seventy per cent of the 393 million TV homes in the footprint analysed today watch channels brought to them by a Eutelsat satellite.
DTH remains the leading TV reception mode within the combined audience of Eutelsat neighbourhoods measured, accounting for 160 million homes, up from 111 million in 2010 (+44%).
The Eutelsat TV Observatory analyses reception platforms within a market, whether satellite, cable, DTT, IPTV, or analogue terrestrial, as well as free-to-air and pay-tv, orbital positions and HD consumer equipment take-up. Research was conducted by leading research institutes, TNS and GfK.
