VIA EUTELSAT :: CYFRA+ boosts HD offer in Poland

Polish pay-TV platform, CYFRA+, boosted its HD offer to three channels in July, with the addition of National Geographic Channel HD and CANAL+ Film HD to its line-up. In the same month CANAL+ Sport HD also began HD broadcasting of Orange Ekstraklasa, the Polish Football League, with almost 100 Polish matches to be available for viewers this season in HD quality. All channels are broadcast via HOT BIRD™ 7A, in MPEG4.

Jacques Aymar de Roquefeuil, Chief Operating Officer of CANAL+ Cyfrowy commented; "When preparing our HD offer we selected channels guaranteeing the most attractive content and spectacular experience: the only sports premium channel in Poland, the best film premium channel, the most awaited documentary channel. This complete offer, available in Poland only via CYFRA+, will allow viewers to discover the many advantages of viewing high definition television."

Launched in 1998 from the HOT BIRD™ neighbourhood, and owned and operated by French media company CANAL+, CYFRA+ has 950 000 subscriber homes in Poland. In the coming months CYFRA+ plans to offer its subscribers services based on PVR technology and VoD.
