VIA EUTELSAT :: France 24 - a new French touch on news

FRANCE 24, the first international news channel in France to broadcast round the world and round the clock, began regular television broadcasts on December 7.

As part of its global network, the channel has selected capacity on three Eutelsat satellites: HOT BIRDT 7A which opens the door to up to 80 per cent of cable and satellite homes in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa; EUROBIRDT 1 to reach satellite homes in the UK and Ireland; ATLANTIC BIRDT 2 to reach over 140 regional cable networks in Germany.

Assembling over 170 journalists, the channel broadcasts in English and French, with Arabic planned to follow next year and Spanish in 2009. The programme line-up comprises on the hour and half-hour news bulletins, current events analysis, an overview of economic and stock market developments and weather bulletins.
