BROADBAND INTERNET ACCESS :: D-STAR & WI-FI TECHNOLOGY
Broadband Internet in your area - now! Wi-Fi broadband (up to
1024 kbit/s on the receive side and 256 kbit/s on the transmit side).
D-STAR / Wi-Fi – a broadband solution that combines satellite
and
Wi-Fi
Eutelsat and its partners, which integrate Internet solutions for local/regional
authorities and business companies, are proposing the Wi-Fi D-STAR service.
This can provide turnkey Internet facilities at an affordable cost by
offering a broadband connection with the Internet backbone to and from
your own computer (PC or MAC) or IT network
Broadband Internet access - available at last using satellite technology.
Today, satellite can deliver a simple and economical solution to areas
in France that are not served by ADSL so that they too can have broadband
access to the Internet.
By installing a 96 cm satellite dish at any central location (the town
hall for instance) or any other high vantage-point in the locality, the
whole area is able to benefit immediately from broadband Internet.
Wi-Fi: an essential extra
Wi-Fi technology ("Wireless Fidelity") is used to extend the
satellite Internet access facility to all interested users who have fitted
their computer with a Wi-Fi card. All that is needed is a small antenna.
Cabling is unnecessary. Wi-Fi uses radio-relay techniques and thus offers
high bit-rates over a range of several dozen metres inside and several
hundred metres outside. It is an interesting possibility for various categories
of users, owing to the low cost of setting up the connection: Local authorities/municipal
offices, business companies in urban areas operating over a number of
different sites, branch offices in busy locations (stations, hotels, etc.),
and also, of course, private individuals, the retail industry, telecommuters
and so on.
Satellite brings broadband capability to your area - Wi-Fi relays the
signals to antennas installed at customers’ homes, at business premises
and by municipal services.
