Eutelsat's two-yearly survey, set up in 1994 and covering 46 countries in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, measures the major trends and indicators of the broadcasting market, as well as the number of antennas pointing towards Eutelsat's satellites.

In today's competitive world, broadcasters rightly demand guarantees that they will reach their chosen target, and the largest possible audience - prerequisites to a successful future. Satellite transmissions have to be reliable, wide-reaching and above all well focused.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE 2010 SURVEY

:: Satellite and cable TV reception has increased to 210.7 million homes, up 8.8% since 2008.

:: Growth is driven by satellite reception (DTH/SMATV), which expanded almost two times faster, by 16% to 129.3 million homes from 111.5 million in 2008.

:: 204 million satellite and cable TV homes receive programming from Eutelsat's satellites in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, up from 190 million in 2008.

:: More than 9 out of 10 satellite and cable homes in the countries covered by the survey are connected to a Eutelsat satellite.

:: Over 107 million satellite homes receive TV services via Eutelsat, reaffirming Eutelsat's pole position for satellite reception in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
