With over 150 interactive services, we have seen continued growth in
interactivity which has expanded over the last few years to include
local weather, regional information programmes, shopping and games.
What currently works on Interactive TV:
:: Games: e.g. PlayJam...
:: Gambling: e.g. Equidia, Skysports...
:: Enhanced TV e.g. Wimbledon on BBC, QVC, Real TV programmes...
:: Virtual Channels e.g. weather channels, traffic

updates...
Interactive services, which facilitate a customised approach to serving
subscriber needs, are increasing in digital terrestrial television and
ADSL, two domains where satellite remains the favoured resource for
feeding headends.
There are now more ways of using television and selecting programmes
than ever before:
:: Electronic Programme Guides (EPG) provide more
detailed, comprehensible programme guides and allow individuals to select
favourite programmes, store information and programme alerts.
:: Video-on-Demand (VOD) allow individuals to watch
TV programmes and films on demand.
:: Multimedia Home Platforms (MHP) can record video
content to decoder hard drives so that the information can be used in
various, different ways.
Updating Digital receivers
Our DTH software upgrading solution, Space Relay Manager, allows satellite
digital receiver manufacturers to update the software within their boxes
already installed at clients' premises, via satellite. EPG data can
also be updated using the same system. Direct after-sales access to
set-top boxes ensures clients always have the latest software and programme
information in their receivers, while minimizing external interventions.
The DTH software-updating service uses the HOT BIRD™ satellites at 13°
East, a platform that broadcasts to 123 million households throughout
Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
