EUROBIRD™ 2 :: 25.5 ° East

EUROBIRD™ 2 delivers TV and radio broadcasting and broadband services. Also featuring Eutelsat's SKYPLEX on-board processing technology, an innovative solution which enables broadcasters to uplink services directly, bypassing on-ground multiplexes. It is ideal for single programme uplinking, outside broadcasts and SNG (Satellite News Gathering) equipment.

The coverage of EUROBIRD™ 2 is centred on the Eastern Mediterranean, making the satellite particularly attractive to broadcasters targeting markets in South-East Europe, Turkey, Libya, Egypt, the Caucasus and the Near and Middle East. A superbeam coverage includes Turkey, Libya, Egypt and surrounding regions.

EUROBIRD™ 2 was launched in 1997 as HOT BIRD™ 5 and used at 13 degrees East for DTH broadcasting of TV and radio programmes. In 2002, the satellite was re-located to 25.5 degrees East and given its present name.
