The 7° East neighbourhood is a key orbital position for regional TV channels and one of Eutelsat’s fastest-growing video neighbourhoods. Over 500 TV channels already broadcast from 7° East, which serves anchor clients including Turkish pay-TV platform Digiturk, and Azam TV and Muvi TV platforms in Sub-Saharan Africa.
It has seen important growth in Turkey and the Middle East with over 8 million homes, and is a growing neighbourhood for Farsi-speaking audiences. Located just 6° from EMEA's premium HOTBIRD neighbourhood at 13° East, a simple dual-feed antenna provides a cost-effective solution for viewers to receive programmes from both 7° East and 13° East.
7° East has also become a new DTH hotspot for Sub-Saharan Africa and a key pay-TV neighbourhood for Eastern Africa with some of the fastest growth rates in the region.
On 20 June 2019, the EUTELSAT 7C satellite was successfully launched from French Guiana by an Ariane 5 rocket. EUTELSAT 7C will be co-located with EUTELSAT 7B, increasing capacity at this dynamic neighbourhood by 19 transponders. It is due to enter into commercial service at the end of this year, releasing EUTELSAT 7A to be deployed at another orbital location.
