CONNECTIVITY FOR TRANSPORT

Low Earth orbit satellite technology is transforming transport, enhancing passenger experience and streamlining operations on the move.

COMMUNICATIONS THAT RUN ON TIME

Opportunities for rail and road companies to connect people and goods over huge distances on land, across all terrains, are often limited.

Eutelsat has raised the barrier with the transformational roll-out of Mobility solutions that can connect roadhaul and rolling stock to depots or control centres, and passengers to seamless WiFi through some of the most remote places on Earth.

  • Connect to high-speed internet along transport routes where investment in fibre is non-viable.
  • Install ruggedised and compact hardware for robust performance and low-cost maintenance.
  • Select the best-fit features and plans for each comms-on-the-move or on-the-pause use case.
  • Sign Service Level Agreements that guarantee the network performance you need.

ROLLING-OUT MOBILITY WIFI

We work with an established network of trusted Distribution Partners (DPs) providing them with the tools, infrastructure, hardware and technical support they need to ensure connectivity for every rail and road customer they serve, on-the-pause or on-the-go. We advise our partners on installations, equipment and service activation and provide them with service management and support.

PKP Intercity trials OneWeb LEO connectivity in Poland

Polish rail operator PKP Intercity has successfully completed trials of Kymeta's new rail-certified user terminal - the Kestrel u5 - using OneWeb LEO connectivity onboard a train travelling long-distance, at speeds up to 160 km/h. The trial, led by rail integrator ACO Solutions together with Eutelsat partner HispaSat, demonstrated continuous, uninterrupted Wi-Fi regardless of geography or motion, through Eutelsat’s OneWeb LEO system.

Passenger WiFi on Trans-Gabon rail network

Eutelsat and Airtel Gabon partnered to bring low Earth orbit (LEO) connectivity to SETRAG's Trans-Gabon Railway, providing reliable onboard passenger Wi-Fi across remote, forested regions. The initiative supports the Gabonese Government's drive to extend high-speed, low-latency broadband beyond terrestrial networks and modernise the country's public transport infrastructure.

Railway Network Solution Case Study: Connecting Kazakhstan's National Railway

Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) manages 16,000 kilometres of critical rail infrastructure, transporting 13.6 million passengers and 302 billion tonnes of freight in 2024. Maintaining reliable connectivity across such vast, remote terrain for operational and passenger services is a significant challenge. This case study explores how satellite solutions bridge infrastructure gaps and overcome climate pressures to meet the growing demand for real-time data.
