36° East

Multi-beam location for broadcast and data

EUTELSAT 36C

LAUNCHED: 24/12/2015 CONSTRUCTOR: Airbus Defence & Space

Eutelsat has leased capacity on the RSCC (Russian Satellite Communication Company) satellite, Express-AMU1, launched in 2015 to 36° East. Capacity is commercialised under the name EUTELSAT 36C.

This state-of-the-art high-capacity satellite provides coverage of the European part of the Russian Federation in Ku and Ka-bands and also ensures service continuity and growth for broadcast markets developed by Eutelsat in sub-Saharan Africa.

EUTELSAT 36C is transforming the broadcasting infrastructure at 36° East into a broader system to support more television services and IP-based applications to match the development of Russia’s digital entertainment market.

EUTELSAT 36B is a multi-beam satellite for broadcast and telecommunications services. It is co-positioned with EUTELSAT 36C at 36° East, a key orbital location for TV broadcasting in Russia, the CIS, Central Asia and Africa.

With up to 70 Ku-band transponders connected to five downlink beams covering Europe, Russia, Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia, EUTELSAT 36B provides bandwidth for digital video and telecommunications services in these regions. The satellite also has a high-power fixed beam and a steerable beam over South Africa, which are ideally suited for DTH applications.

In addition to video applications, EUTELSAT 36B offers potential for data and voice solutions using small ground terminals, in particular for oil and gas in Russia, Central Asia and West Africa.

EUTELSAT 36D

SUCCESSFUL LAUNCH OF EUTELSAT 36D LAUNCH: 30th March 2024 CONSTRUCTOR: Airbus LAUNCHER: SpaceX

The new EUTELSAT 36D satellite succeeds EUTELSAT 36B at 36° East.

Delivering over 1100 TV channels to millions of homes across a vast footprint, 36° East is a key orbital slot for broadcasters. Home to two powerful satellites, EUTELSAT 36C and EUTELSAT 36D, together they support the broadcast business of several major anchor customers.

With 70 physical Ku-band transponders, the all-electric EUTELSAT 36D assures all the main legacy missions of EUTELSAT 36B, with enhancements to coverage areas and performance.

Based on the state-of-the-art Airbus Eurostar Neo platform, the satellite was launched in 2024.
