Service testing in Norway with Royal Marines​

The challenge ​

Government forces pledged to participate in NATO’s Arctic
Sentry mission – a multi-domain military activity launched
February 2026 to strengthen NATO’s posture in the Arctic and
High North.​

The critical need ​

Robust, defence-grade connectivity for Arctic and sub-Arctic
conditions. Communications networks for existing national and
multinational exercises, to protect critical infrastructure and
important sea routes. Portability and connectivity readily
available whenever traditional communications infrastructure
becomes unavailable, degraded or denied. ​

The solution ​

UK Royal Marines tested the Eutelsat LEO network using
Intellian’s OW7MP in exceptionally austere and remote
conditions in Norway, for demanding and tactical field
environments. OW7MP met technical requirements as both an
HQ entity and for dispersed locations. Marines ran collaborative
working, Situational Awareness tracking and video conferencing
applications and concluded this solution could support an HQ
of up to 20 seats. ​
