Rapid Connectivity for Disaster Relief
When disaster strikes, communications go down
Télécoms Sans Frontières (TSF), a humanitarian NGO, provides emergency connectivity following natural disasters. After Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm, struck Jamaica in October 2025, TSF needed to restore communication quickly. Alongside Eutelsat partners, they immediately deployed so that affected populations could receive aid and reconnect with loved ones.
THE Challenge
Landslides, floods, and strong winds destroyed power and communications networks:
- Stricken communities: Thousands displaced, schools closed, 120,000 homes damaged
- Economic disruption: Local businesses shut down
- Public services: Health officials reported disease outbreaks
THE Need
Télécoms Sans Frontières needed to set up a lifeline for humanitarian actions, requiring:
- Voice and data for field operations and medical support
- Access for families to share vital information
- Reliable network services for the communications required under humanitarian law
Solution
We delivered easy-to-activate, rapidly deployable connectivity with uninterrupted service for as long as needed. This enabled:
- Rapid installations for life-saving coordination and medical provision
- Secure voice and data channels for humanitarian teams
- Connectivity for families to communicate and reunite
As Jamaicans at home and abroad come together to rebuild and recover in the wake of Hurricane Melissa, the importance of dependable and resilient communication systems has never been clearer. At Neptune Communications, we are deeply honored to stand alongside our partners at Eutelsat in supporting Jamaica’s first responders, emergency services, and communities with the connectivity they need—when it matters most. We remain steadfast, present, and at work to keep Jamaica #AlwaysOn during this challenging time. Together, we are confident that Jamaica will soon be reconnected—and stronger than ever.
